Importance of Advertising

Advertising is a non-personal type of promotion that's delivered through selected media outlets that, generally, need the marketing specialist to pay for message placement. Advertising has for some time been viewed as a technique of mass promotion in a single message can reach a sizeable number of people. However this mass promotion approach presents issues since many exposed to an advertising message won't be in the marketer's target audience, and therefore, might be an ineffective use of promotional funds. Nonetheless this is changing as new advertising technologies and the emergence of new media outlets offer options for focused advertising.

There are a few reasons for advertising some of which are like this:

*Increasing the sales of the product / service
*Creating and maintaining a brand identity or brand image.
*Communicating a change in the current product.
*Introduction of a new service.
*Increasing the buzz-value of the brand or the company.

Another characteristic that will change as advertising develops is the view that advertising doesn't excite instant requirement for the product publicized. That is, purchasers can't quickly get a product they see publicized. But as more media outlets permit buyers to engage with the messages being delivered the capability of advertising to quickly excite demand will improve.

While worldwide advertising is a very important contributor to commercial growth, individual marketing organizations differ on the job advertising plays. For some organizations small advertising could be done, instead promotional cash is spent on other promotion options such an individual selling through a sales force.

For some smaller corporations advertising may are composed of occasional advertisement and on a miniscule scale, eg placing tiny adverts in the classified section of a local paper.
